And so far, I think I’ve made a great decision! I’ve been using the Model S-200 for over a year now, and I love it. First of all, it just works. It does what it was designed to do and just gives a good, effective clean. My teeth and gums feel very healthy and clean, and my dentist even noticed an improvement since my last check up (that was about a month after first using the brush).
It has a comfortable handle which I appreciate isn’t always the case on an electric brush. It’s generally just easy to use and works well. It has the basic features that most brushes have now a days, where it indicates every 30 seconds that you should change quadrant in your mouth. In the case of the Model S-200, every 30 seconds it pauses and vibrates for a second. I think some people would find this annoying but I think it’s a helpful little feature that you ultimately get used to.
The brush has two settings: regular and sensitive, so it’s pretty straight forward to use. Again, simplicity is why I bought this brush and it lives up to expectations.
My favorite thing about the Model S-200 in particular, is how easy it is to keep clean. I’ve had other electric toothbrushes before and they always seem to have some gap or feature that gets a build up of gunk. Not with the Model S-200! A quick rinse and it’s good to go!
The battery life is also great. I find it lasts a good week and a half to two weeks in one charge, which is better than any other brush I’ve owned and more than adequate.
It’s really hard for me to pick a fault with this brush, but one thing I would point out that I thought when I first purchased it, was that the vibrations it emits are very strong. It’s obviously not unbearable – and to be honest, it’s probably one of the reasons it gives such a good clean – but never the less, it isn’t as “gentle” as perhaps some people would prefer. Other than that, the only real downside is that you need to purchase replacement brush heads every now and then for optimal results, and this can get pricey. It’s not a ridiculous cost, but usually with a toothbrush, anything more that free is expensive!
Here’s a summary of the Oral B Model S-200:
Pros:
- Works very well
- Very easy to use
- Comfortable handle
- Easy to keep clean
- Relatively inexpensive
- Indicates every 30 seconds when to change quadrant
- Good battery life
Cons:
- Very strong vibrations (some may prefer more gentle)
- Replacement heads can be costly
Overall, I love this brush and it’s exactly what I was looking for. If you’re like me and you want something simple that has some good features, but generally just works, then the Oral B Model S-200 is for you. An excellent brush and highly recommended.
