The handle is nice and slim so it’s easy to hold and maneuver, and is great for traveling. I think comfortable is the best way to describe it. It’s also extremely quiet. I hadn’t used an electric toothbrush for a good few years so I was expecting to see an improvement, and in terms of motor noise, this really is noticeable.
Like a number of models now on the market, this Pulsonic specifically works to whiten your teeth. I didn’t really give this that much emphasis whilst making my purchase and just put it off as marketing hype, but it really is a legitimate feature. After about 3 or 4 weeks of use, my teeth were noticeably whiter. Not only could I notice but my wife let me know, as well as receiving numerous positive comments from colleagues.
It also lets you know audibly every 30 seconds when to change the quadrant within your mouth. This is quite a common feature nowadays but never the less, a very useful feature.
One thing I do find a little puzzling about this brush, and does put me off slightly, is the fact that you still have to move the brush in a circular motion over your teeth. I thought one of the reasons for using an electric brush was that you didn’t have to do that? Still, it’s not really a hassle.
Other than that, the only other downside worth noting is that the actual brush heads are also like regular toothbrushes, as opposed to the small rounded ones. I think a smaller head would be easier for getting to all your teeth, especially deep at the back of your mouth and behind your front teeth. It’s certainly not a deal breaker, but rather something I’d tell Oral-B to improve!
Here’s an overall summary of the Pulsonic Sonic:
Pros:
- Quiet, gentle motor
- Very slim, comfortable and lightweight handle
- Works to whiten your teeth
- Let’s you know audibly every 30 seconds when to change quadrant
Cons:
- Doesn’t have small, rounded brush heads
- You still have to move brush in a circular motion
Overall, this is definitely a great toothbrush. The results it has given me are certainly impressive and I’m more than happy with it on the whole. There are definitely a few improvements that I’d suggest but for the price and general quality of it, I couldn’t ask for more. I’ve used this brush quite a lot for travelling due to the slimness and light weight, and I’ve spoken to many friends that say they don’t like to do that with their electric toothbrushes due to the weight, so that’s another bonus! Highly recommended.
