Philips Sonicare for Kids HX6311/02 Rechargeable Toothbrush Review- The Perfect Children’s Electric Toothbrush!
I personally use a Phillips Sonicare for Sonicare FlexCare Plus and I have to say, I love it, as with many of the other Sonicare models I’ve used over the years. However, when it came to buying a Philips Sonicare for Kids Toothbrush for each of my two young children (a 9 years old girl anda 6 years old boy), I wasn’t 100% sure that it would really be worth it. After all, they’re not exactly cheap. But, I bit the bullet and gave it a
I actually bought these as Christmas presents for both my kids (aren’t I a thoughtful parent!), and they were surprisingly excited when they opened them up! They re a very colorful with a child friendly design so they’re a lot more welcoming than a regular brush. The handle is ergonomically designed in such a way that a parent and child can brush together, or both separately, and while I think it achieves this, the handle is pretty large. My son just about manages.
Some of the things worth mentioning are the fact that the motor is definitely more gentle and quiet than adult versions. This makes the brush a lot less intimidating and daunting whilst still giving them the benefits of a good brush. It has a quadrapace timer much like the adult models which lets your child know every 30 seconds when to move on to the next quadrant of their mouth, only with this brush it plays a cute little tune every 30 seconds!
It also has different power settings depending on the age of the child, from age 4+ to age 7+, as well as age-appropriate brush heads. These features generally ensure that your child is getting the right level of cleaning for them, and it works well. One thing I would say about the power setting that can be altered, is that it’s perhaps a bit too easy to do so. Any curious
child could flip the switch and end up using the wrong power setting, so bare that in mind.
Other than that, the only other downside in my
opinion is the charger that comes supplied with the brush. It’s a bit of a let down to be honest compared with the standard of the brush, in that it’s just not constructed all that well. It’s not a deal breaker but something I’d definitely tell Philips to improve!
So here’s a summary of the Kids HX6311/02:
- The novelty gets kids excited to use it
- Brush is quieter and more gentle than adult models
- Can alter power of brush to cater to your child
- Good for getting your child into good habits
- Charger isn’t the best quality
- Power setting is easily changeable by a child
Overall, I’m very happy with the HX6311/02, and
more importantly, both my kids are too. They’ve been using them for the best part of a year now and the novelty still hasn’t worn off, so if that’s enough to get them excited about caring for their teeth then it’s definitely been a good investment. Don’t expect to just hand the brush to them and let them run with it though, they will need some guidance from you at first. But after the first couple of attempts they’ll have no problems at all. A great product and highly
